AP Exams - Advanced Placement Exams
Students who have mastered challenging course material may gain college credit for their efforts by taking the AP exams. Earning a score of 3 or better (on a scale of 1 to 5) on an AP exam means a student is generally considered qualified to receive credit for the equivalent course at one of the 2800 colleges and universities that give credit for AP exams. The entering college student who has been given AP recognition can take advanced courses, earn credit toward undergraduate work, or be positioned to pursue double majors.
AP exams are administered at Silver Creek during the first two weeks of May.
SAT
Some colleges and universities use the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) for admission purposes; however, the University of California system (UC) and California State University system (CSU) are no longer using the SAT for admissions. The CSU system allows students to submit SAT test scores after admission which can be used in English and Math placement decisions. The UC system will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships. If you choose to submit test scores as part of your application, they may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after you enroll.
Because the SAT is used by the UC and CSU systems as a metric for alternative placement in English and Math after admission and because some other schools may still require the SAT for admissions, the East Side Union High School District will offer the SAT to all 11th grade students free of charge who sign up to take the test. Read here for more information.
